AGARTALA,May 9 (TIWN): Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Review Mission concluded Tripura visit May 7-9 with a successful note of developmental projects around State under the leadership of JICA Tripura CEO & Project Director G.S.Raju, IFS.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Review Mission Consisting of Mr. Eiji Egashira, Senior Project Formulation Advisor, JICA Vietnam office; Dr. Miki Enoki, Project Formulation Advisor and Mr. Anurag Sinha, Senior Development Specialist from JICA India, Delhi have visited various Project Sites of the ‘Tripura Forest Environment Improvement and Poverty Alleviation Project’ (TFIPAP) from 7-9 May, 2014. The purpose of the mission is to review the progress of the Project in implementation of various components of the Project. The Project has been successfully implemented for the last 7 years. The main objectives of the Project inter alia include afforestation, soil and water conservation, biodiversity conservation and poverty alleviation of the forest dwellers. All the components of the Project are implemented through Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMC) and Eco-development Committees (EDC) through peoples’ participation.
The Review Mission visited Hezamara, Teliamura, Taidu and Amarpur Development Blocks and visited plantations, checkdams, agroforestry plantations, central nursery, decentralized peoples’ nurseries, income generation activities, community common facility centre(CCFC), mini-CCFC for agarbatti stick and rolling units, handloom training centre, lathe turning units, bamboo ornaments manufacturing units etc. The review mission appreciated the good work done by the Project in the last seven years.
