INPT seeks justice for Tarubala

Agartala,May 9 (TIWN): The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) has submitted a memorandum to the SDPO Mohanpur Tapan Deb seeking proper investigation into the rape and murder of a tribal girl- Tarubala Debbarma.

Party president Bijay Kumar Hrangkhwl, vice president Amiya Debbarma, general secretary Jagadish Debbarma, INPT woman vice president Bina Rani Debbarma, woman general secretary Swapna Debbarma along with other locals led by Rabindra Debbarma visited the Sidhai police station and submitted a memorandum with 2-point charter of demands to the SDPO Mohanpur.

In the memorandum, they have demanded for justice for the victim’s family and a compensation of Rs 5 lakh or providing a government job to the victim’s family.

Noticeable, Tarubala (16), D/O Sri Santi Kr. Debbarma and her friend Khumpui Debbarma (17), residents of Hatuk Kari under Sidhai police station left their houses for School at Tamakari S.B. School on April 16 last.

After closing of the school, both Tarubala Debbarma and Khumpui Debbarma went to the house of Khumpui Debbarma. Thereafter, Tarubala left the house of Khumpui Debbarma for her house. But Tarubala did not return to home. Later, the body of Tarubala was found on the next morning from a 100-feet deep gorge of Gayantung area, which is located between her house and school. There was a tie around neck of the deceased.

Police preliminary suspected that she was raped then murdered. Of late, police of Sidhai police station had arrested two suspected Prahar Debbarma (16) and Siman Debbarma (18) for interrogation. Both are the residents of Tamakarai under Sidhai police station.
