AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): Heavy down pour throughout the day hit the normal life across the city but there was no human casualty till the last report came in.
Busy streets like RMS Chowmuhani, Orient Chowmuhani, Motor Stand, Kaman Chowmuhani, Laxmi Narayan road, Banamalipur including few other areas witnessed water logging despite spending crores of money to improve drainage system in the city.
In fact, the vehicular movement was badly affected due to the water logging triggered by torrential shower. City dwellers put question mark on the viability of constructing covered drain by spending huge public money.
According to Met the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy with rain or thunder shower to occur in some areas of the state. The temperature was recorded at 22.0 degree Celsius in the morning while it rose to 33.5 degree Celsius with the advancement of the day.
The minimum relative humidity was 52% while the maximum relative humidity was recorded at 98% respectively. Asked about the rainfall, the official stated that 35.0 millimeters of rainfall was recorded till 7.13 PM.
“As it is a pre-monsoon rainfall, it is hardly to stay 2-3 hours if it occurs a day,” said the official. On the tomorrow’s forecast; he said that the temperature is likely to touch 25 degree Celsius in the morning. Later, the temperature may heighten at 35 degree Celsius. However, the Met Department warned that heavy rain will occur in some isolated areas of the state within next 24 hours.
