AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): Within 24 hours after cancellation of 10,323 teacher jobs,The Left ruled Government of Tripura received another setback on Thursday, when Tripura High Court dissolved the State Medical Council nominated by the state government. Hearing on a petition filed by Congress spokesperson and physician Dr Ashok Sinha, Justice Subhashis Talapartra dissolved the council notified by the state government for next one year and appointed Secretary Health as administrator for the time being.
Dr. Sinha alleged that the Tripura government had passed Tripura Medical Council Act in 2010 and with the approval of Medical Council of India. The government constituted a seven member council for three years instead of 14-member elected council in April 2011.
However, tenure of the committee was expired on April 19 last and in the meantime the health department by a notification extended the term of nominated council for another year. In its order the High Court also nominated the health secretary of state government as ex- office administrator of the council, while directing the state government to reonstitute the council by complying with norms of MCI.
