AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN):Nearly 129 complaints were filed across the state till May 6, as part of public hearings on claims and objections filed over the draft list of polling stations for the coming three-tier Panchayat election in Tripura was concluded on Thursday. Concerned District Election Officers (DEO) across the state conducted the public hearings.
An official of state election commission said that claims and objections over the draft list were accepted till May 06, maximum claims were filed on demands of reshuffle of polling station venues, adding that all objections were successfully disposed on May 07 and May 08.
A total of 2,543 polling stations were included in the draft list of polling stations published earlier this month. The figures had a straight rise from 2,185 since the 2009 Panchayat election in the state.The draft voters list for the coming Panchayat polls is slated to be announced on May 19. The draft rolls were prepared based on January 1st, 2014 state election commission said.
All 591 Gram Panchayats, 35 Panchayat Samity and 8 Zilla Parishad All gram panchayats of the state are expected to go to polls in July later this year. The state election commission issued draft notification of delimitation in the three-tier Panchayati Raj system earlier in February this year. The notification was issued over delimitation of all the three tier panchayat bodies alongwith a recent decision of reservation of seats in the panchayats.
