AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): Tripura Pragatishil Gramin Congress (TPGC) today sought dissolution of the delimitation of Panchayats for two blocks- Gournagar and Chandipur.
TPGC president Subal Bhowmik, who submitted a memorandum to District Magistrate (DM), Unakoti district Abhishek Chandra on three-point charter of demands.The demands include dissolution of delimitation of Panchayat before the three-tier Panchayat elections to be held in July.
According to Bhowmik, the delimitation of Panchayats was done ignoring the observations/ views of Congress-run Gram Panchayats. In fact, the delimitation was carried out at the advice of the ruling party leaders.
Besides, the TPGC also demanded reopening of Tripura Gramin Bank’s Tilla Bazar branch immediately. The shutter of the bank remained down for the past one week after a bank manager was manhandled by a local CPM leader.
The party, in the memorandum, also demanded setting up border haat at Boula Bazar immediately. If the border haat is established , illegal trade will automatically come down drastically.
The DM assured he would look into the demands put forwarded by the TPGC and take necessary steps.
