Ten BNA militants surrender to Assam Rifles

AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN):The outlawed militant group BNA ( Bru National Army) suffered a severe setback when ten of their cadres surrendered before 45 battalion Assam Rifles .

The surrendered included Second in command of BNA Singhrak  alias Simanjoy,Zuktia of Ashapara and Third in command Chunsa Rai  Naisinghpara who surrendered to Assam Rifles with weapons stated an official statement.

It further   added the  troops of 45 battalion Assam Rifles of the 21 Sector Assam Rifles intensified their search in North District for the outlaw underground militants of    BNA leaving no room for them to escape. Being leader less and because of the proactive operations of 45 Assam Rifles from 02 May to early hours of 07 May, they finally surrendered to the troops of Assam Rifles on 07 May 2014..

With the apprehension of top leadership of BNA and surrender of rest of the UGs; the BNA is now considered to be annihilated.This is a milestone in the history of insurgency in Tripura that an UG org has completely been wiped out with apprehension or surrender of its complete cadres and recovery of nearly all arms and ammunition held by the UG group.

It may be recalled that  three days ago troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 21 Sector Assam Rifles apprehended the top leadership of BNA during the early hours of 04 May 14 from village Kholakhal in Cachar dist of South Assam. 

The operation launched on the night of 03 May 14 by 15 Assam Rifles  led to the apprehension of the self styled  Commander-in-chief Oranjay alias Lal Thazuala and three other insurgents including the General Secretary of the outfit.
