AGARTALA, July 24 (TIWN): Union Minister (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari’s order to fix NH-44 on war footing basis showing brisk results as few hundred vehicles moving slowly towards Tripura through the muddy roadways. Tripura’s dilapidated NH-44 resumed transportation with bare body infrastructure but no guarantee that when rain may fully shut off vehicular movements. SDM P Acharjee talking to TIWN said that the vehicular movements via Kathaltali (NHC) and NH-44 both have been resumed on Saturday and 300 vehicles are entering in state per day. But TIWN North Tripura correspondent couldn’t travel same stretch of road via bike as muddy roads are posing challenge to all kind of small vehicles. However, the pathetic pictures of NH-8 (44) depicts the reality of false claims by Govt authorities. Severe Fuel crisis since a month has fully dried up Tripura’s petrol pumps, triggered black marketing in various parts of the state by CPI-M cadres. Supply from neighboring Assam by tankers has almost stopped due to irreparable condition of the NH 8 (44) in Assam-Tripura border. NH-44 miseries are nothing new as its repeating in every rainy season due to disability of corruption ridden State PWD Dept. TRIPURA INFOWAY suggests Tripura MPs and their helicopter-hopping CM Manik Sarkar to undertake a car journey from Agartala to Dharmanagar to witness the hell under CPI-M’s rule.

‘No petrol, No diesel’ signs and long queues of bikers waiting for several hours is a common scenario in Tripura.

The pain is not one-sided, but the vehicle-drivers who have no place to go and the issue of their food and water supplies have also been exhausted.  Although it’s claimed that work has been started to renovate the road, but the unorganized work at NH-44 fueled to the problem and has totally paralyzed the NH-44.

As during the whole year the work was suspended, it was guessed that during monsoon the condition will be exactly like this.

The condition of Churaibari area inside Tripura across 1.5 km is also in dilapidated condition.

Although the Tripura Govt. officials and Assam Govt. officials  had visited the NH-8 (44) on Lowarpoa part and inspected twice by DC Karimganj Manoj Kumar Deka and DSP J Ranadip Sharma following the ongoing crisis of fuel and food due to National Highway’s pathetic condition, but both the Govts are unable to sort out the problem.

However, along with the NH-8 (44) issue the market is now heated up with illegal selling of fuels.

Whereas no petrol sign is haunting the people of Tripura, the increasing black marketing has increased the problem of the people.

SDM  P Acharjee also claimed, ‘Everyday 20-30 tankers entering in state’. But after entering of enough tankers, the reason behind petrol crisis is however unknown. This  unofficial blockade of fuel has forced illegal black markets to spring up around Tripura.
