AGARTALA, July 20 (TIWN): After Belonia, Jatrapur police under Sonamura on Wednesday on the basis of secret information arrested 12 number of youths from Kathalia under Jatrapur area suspecting them ISIS extremist. The arrested are yet to be identified. However, huge numbers of fake documents are recovered from the arrested persons. According to police they are the suspected ISIS agents who are planning their target in the state. It is to be mentioned here that ISIS, HUJI terrorist groups are expanding their network in the state through Tripura's Sonamura, Kailashahar, Belonia and other red alert area. However threat of extremism is progressing in alarming proportion. The Islamic State (IS) jihadist group wants to expand its operations in Bangladesh to boost its image among local radicals. According to the sources Bangladesh extremists already set up bases in various cities in Bangaldesh, in addition to Assam's Silchar, Cacher region, Tripura's Sonamura, Belonia. Terrorist leader Al-Hanif also noted that Bangladesh is strategically important due to its proximity to eastern, northeastern India and Myanmar.

"Bangladeshi nationals and foreign extremists of Bangladeshi descent fighting in Iraq and Syria will provide the Islamic State with skilled bomb makers and operational planners in Bangladesh. Large scale illegal migration from Bangladesh over several years has been altering the demographic complexion of this State.

It poses a grave threat both to the identity of the people of Tripura and to our national security.

Successive Governments at the Centre and in the State have not adequately met this challenge. Day after day the illegal intrusion has taken a massive shape triggering panic in the state.

Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Assam share an 1,880 km border with Bangladesh, while Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh share a 1,640 km unfenced border with Myanmar.

In a recent intelligence report, it has been mentioned that the Sonamura subdivision is becoming the centre for all ISIS intrusions in Tripura, which is increasing the terror among the common public in Tripura.

Reportedly, Sonamura subdivision is the epicentre for all illegal activities, drug smuggling to massive ganja cultivations, entire subdivision has become a threat for the safety of people.

However, taking the advantage of porous Indo-Bangla border, Bangladesh based HUJI, ISIS, fundamentalist elements are building their bases in Sonamura. Sonamura, Boxnagar areas are known for organized ganja cultivations, drug smugglings, even helping out militant factions like NLFT, ATTF with arms.

Sonamura area has become the corridor for all kinds of mafias and the place has become  a pious-land for extremists.

Islamic fundamentalists are in huge numbers at Sonamura, and spike of cross-border smuggling at all time high.
