AGARTALA, July 20 (TIWN): Passengers are facing hard-time as the Agartala-Udaipur road was blocked since last 24 hours due to the sudden flood’s arrival. Local passengers alleged that taking the opportunity of the roadway’s pathetic condition, the bus fare went upto 100 rupees for Udaipur-Agartala route.

Talking to Bishalgarh SP Pradip Dey, he said, On Monday as the route was changed so the fair increased”.

A local passenger said that the diverted road for Agartala-Udaipur takes 3 hours more to pass. However, the flood like situation is still there but vehicles are now moving via direct line, said SP. SDM Udaipur Subhashish Banarjee said, in Udaipur there is no fare-hike report and even in Garji road the situation is under control.

Flood has hit 1000 families under Bishalgarh subdivision but they are not provided with sufficient foods, said sources. However, Charilam areas flood has disrupted the traffic movement till South Tripura as the only National Highway is now under water. With the arrival of rain again on Tuesday, the situation is deteriorating.

It’s worthy to mention here that the transport system in Tripura is in pathetic shape due to PWD’s years-long corruption and poor construction works. But the Minister are however, unaware of these problems as CM completes every visit with a chopper ride.

On Monday too, CM took helicopter to inaugurate Kalachara block building, but without inspecting NH-44 he came back, after which resentment brewed among the locals, said Dharmanagar source.

In this situation, the common people are the worst sufferer.  In Charilam area many homes have gone under water, but from Govt side no proper help yet has been offered to them. If the rain continues, then the situation may become worst.

The people there are passing day-nights in crisis situation, but Tripura Govt. has no concern about it.
