AGARTALA, July 20 (TIWN): Observing the slow pace work of PNG service executed by the TNGCL to households in many parts of Agartala, the people have lost their faith over the assurance given to them by the state government to provide PNG service to moist of the houses.

It is to be mentioned here TNGCL is supposed to provide PNG service to at least 8000 houses but the slow pace of work shows that the half number of the houses will not get the connection. However, the sources said that this year TNGCL will provide connection to 8000 households though there is huge demand of PNG supply among the peoples but TNGCL is failing to provide services.

It is alleged that the piped natural gas work is running slowly. In most houses, there is no network and households are still waiting endlessly to be enrolled by a gas agency, while in rural areas, food is cooked on polluting coal, wood or dung fires.

Tripura capital city Agartala would soon turn into a green metropolitan. All together 8,000 households would be provided piped cooking gas connections by the end of this year. TNGCL has taken this initiative with the aim to make Agartala a green city, first of its kind in eastern India. By next financial year, further 8,000 households in Agartala would be covered by piped natural gas (PNG) connections for cooking purposes. With the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to homes in Agartala, it has become easier to supply gas to the household.

Already more than 25,000 households are connected with PNG.

TNGCL has also provided about 400 commercial connections to the business centres. Along with the household and commercial connection TNGCL has also provided about 50 PNG connections in several factories in Bodhjungnagar industrial sector area.

According to the TNGCL source, a large number of industrial units, hotels and crematoria were already running on PNG. Focusing on the increasing number of CNG fueled vehicles, the TNGCL has already set up a mother CNG refilling station at Udaipur and in this regard TNGCL to set up 4 daughter boosters at Amarpur, Shantibazar, Belonia, and Sonamura.

TNGCL was registered under the company Act, 1956 with ROC, Shillong as Limited Company. Incorporation of the company with a joint venture of TIDC Ltd. [A Govt. of Tripura undertaking] & AGCL [A Govt. of Assam undertaking] on July 1990.

Re-structuring of TNGCL on February 2005, with joining of GAIL as a major share holder in order to facilitate the implementation of CNG in the transport sector of Tripura.

The Main Objective of TNGCL is to Establish natural gas as a eco-friendly, economical and safe alternative fuel, Reduce & control rising pollution due to vehicular emission, Provide safe, healthy & less polluting environment.

The main activity of TNGCL is to Supply piped natural gas to the domestic, commercial & industrial consumers in and around Agartala.
