AGARTALA, July 6 (TIWN): Although newly appointed Chief Minister of Assam Sarbanada Sonowal visited the National Highway and his visit was recognized as the first-ever official-visit by any of the Northeastern Chief Minister, but Tripura Chief Minister even after ruling over two decades, didn’t get time to visit at National Highway till date. As a result, due to the lack of initiatives, inspections, Tripura’s lifeline has remained in paralyzed condition and turned into a death zone. On Wednesday morning a vehicle bearing the number ASIIAC8264 met an accident when the vehicle had turned during its battling with the deplorable roadway. Reportedly, this incident occurred at Khasiapunji, Churaibari, under Karimganj Dist. The vehicle was bringing transport-goods to Tripura from Assam. Although no major injury was reported from that incident, but drivers are fuming against the Govts for making the roadway paralyzed since decades, due to which in every rainy season, vehicular have to suffer a lot.

Since last 20 days the repair work of National Highway has been resulted into a cumbersome task.

For the last 20 odd days, drivers of these vehicles have no place to go and their food and water supplies have also been exhausted. On the one hand PWD Minister never bothered to visit National Highway, but on the other hand, Badal Choudhury via press meet blamed the Assam CM for not renovating the work.

However, protesting against the  political comments passed by Tripura PWD Minister Badal Choudhury on July 1st, 2016 about the central govt.’s deprivation for Northeast, and Assam Govt.’s lethargy to renovate national highway, BJP State observer Sunil Deodhar said, “Tripura PWD Minister Badal Choudhury should apologize, take back his words against Modi Govt. and Assam Govt. and also for confusing public, media with wrong information’.

‘Without proper transport-system, development can not come but the communist Govt. is plan-wise lagging the state far away from development’, he said. He added, “‘People will see how in the next years Rapid Development will come in Assam and this is because of the co-operation between the state and Central’.

However, fact can’t be ignored that sitting in Secretariat it may be easy for Tripura PWD Minister to blame the Central Govt. or neighboring state’s govt. but till day he didn’t feel it’s necessary to go physically and to inspect the condition of National Highway.
