AGARTALA, July 4 (TIWN): CPI-M cadre filled Sports Dept, rapist Joint Director Panna Ahmed, Smuggling patrons like Shahid Chowdhury led Tripura’s Sports Dept. massively failed to develop sports in state other than looting central funds. Sports Minister Shahid Chowdhury, Sports Director Dulal Das were busy to falsely blame the Modi Govt. for depriving Tripura with funding under Modi’s Khelo-Indian scheme. Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues should undergo a learning drive on how to honor properly India's first woman athlete qualified for Olympics in nation's history since India's independence in 1947. The day Dipa Karmakar won the gold medal by beating all the contestants in Rio Olympics test round of vaults, Narendra Modi led Central Govt announced Rs 1.10 crores towards Dipa's training in foreign till August so that Dipa achieves the dream of India - the 1st Olympics Gold Medal in Athletics.

Now, to achieve India's dream, what Manik Sarkar led lameduck Tripura Govt did so far ? Unfortunately, Manik Sarkar, Shahid Chowdhury failed to honor Tripura’s sports icon Dipa with even a Rs 1 cash prize even though continued looting crores of Central funds.

Whereas the Sports Dept. is duped into huge corruption Sports Director was blaming the central sports authorities for involve in politics regarding selecting sports-stars from North-East..

Sport Dept Director Dulal Das is a known anti-social, followed by Joint Director Panna Ahmed who 'enlightened' Manik Sarkar by raping hapless women at Agartala.

On top of that Manik Sarkar appointed Boxanagar's smuggling patron Shahid Chowdhury as Sports Minister who was exposed by West Bengal CID Police in March 2008 for harbouring HUJI Terrorist Mamun Mia at his Agartala home.

Addressing the Monday’s programme at Mukta Dhara auditorium, tainted Dulal  Das  continued lies, “Although Tripura Govt. had submitted DPRs for only 12 blocks, but till day no fund was sanctioned from Central. Moreover, Modi Govt. has changed the name of Rajib Gandhi Khel Ratna Abhiyan and converted it into ‘Khelo Indian scheme’, which has nothing extra-ordinary. “Tripura Govt. is focusing on “Sports For All” across the rural areas and also MLAs are donating for sports-complexes, but the central Govt. is not co-operating”, he added.

About Dipa Karmakar he said, “Everyday many calls come to sponsor Dipa, which proves Tripura’s capability to generate such a gynmast”. But Director didn’t mention that Dipa Karmakar has achieved that level of success in her own will. Tripura Govt. never inspired her before her success in the year 2015-16’ neither Manik Sarkar paid one rupee cash prize to DIpa.

“TATA Company before few days asked to donate and organize training for Tripura, but we didn’t receive that help”, said Das. “We told them if you want to help then help fully, not half with half-fund sharing with state”, Sports Director continued his barking against Central Govt.

However, this is an example how Tripura Govt. always despises the investors and sponsors who want to develop the State.

In his speech mafia don Sports Minister Sahid Choudhury contnued further lies, “There is a huge corruption at central sports level. In Dipa’s time we faced so much of politics there in Gynmastic field as there was a huge competition between the Secretaries and Presidents of sports Associations’.

‘A groupism began there as presidents were drawing the attention of students to practice with them and on the opposite side there were the secretaries who created obstacles in selection-process,  for them who went with the presidents’ group’. ‘However, in this situation, anyhow Dipa shined internationally’, added Shahid Choudhury.

Like Dipa’s case, there are so much of politics at National Level Sports, which deprives the talents of Tripura.

It can’t be ignored that in Tripura sports has been remained neglected even after the ruling by a same govt. since 23 years. In last 23 years Tripura’s many talents wasted without utilization.

Nobody could imagine that Tripura's pride Dipa Karmakar,  whose upbringing was in a backward state like Tripura, where sports had never get any focus would challenge the whole world and will compete the gymnasts world-wide gymnasts in Rio Olympic as India's first woman athlete in Olympics.

Tripura Govt's apathy resulted poor history in sports and sports like gymnastic in State, mostly sports were always taken just a material to show parades in field during Independence day and Republic Day.

Dipa Karmakar who came back in Tripura on April 22, 2016 after she qualified for test round of  Rio Olympics with a gold medal; Dipa was facilitated nationwide from Modi Govt to Calcutta Journalists Clubs to DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh.

Finally under public pressure when Tripura Govt felicitated Dipa on April 30,2016 but CM Manik Sarkar chosen to skip the programme. 

When TIWN called Shahid Cowdhury on April 30, 2016 on why State Govt not giving any cash prize ?   Then Sahid Chowdhury laughingly said, “ How can you expect State Govt to annnouce cash prize ? State Govt wants her to shine in Olympics . We didn’t give her any cash as it will increase her over-confidence - she is just a participant now”.  

But Modi Govt immediately sanctioned Rs 1.10 crores for Dipa Karmakar in April 2016, DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh met Dipa and showered her with all types of facilities in Delhi.

What Dipa or Tripura can expect from a low class smuggler cum HUJI terrorist Mamoon Miah’s relative Sports Minister Shahid Chaudhury  ?

Tripura Communists cry over central fundings and keeps on blaming the central govt. for its own failures, so now rejected the TATA investors and such an attitude of the Govt. has been the main reason of Tripura’s failure in sport-field at national / international level.
