AGARTALA, June 22 (TIWN): CPI-M State Secretary Bijan Dhar has accused the IPFT party as a Terrorist group, which never actually worked on behalf of Tribals, but IPFT doing all these divisive politics for personal gains as they are backed by few unscrupulous political parties especially BJP. Bijan Dhar while talking with TIWN correspondent on wednesday said that “IPFT is not fighting against ‘Unemployment’ or they are crying for ‘Development’- but these former terrorists only aim is personal gains for amassing wealth. Briefing the history of IPFT, Dhar said, few terrorists from splinter groups sheltered in forest when militancy ended in 1996/ 97 in Tripura and they never returned to mainstream from jungle. “After the riots, bloodsheds of 1980s, Tripura Govt fully curbed terrorism within 1996/ 97 as many terrorists surrendered and provided with rehabilitation, homes and shelters by the govt .But many terrorists who chosen extortions, threats to amass personal wealth now again trying to break down the unity of tribal and non-tribals, so they started ‘Twipra land’ propaganda. There is a huge difference between the times of 1980 and 2016” - when the ethnic violence, terrorism ended with the help of Central Forces and Tripura police, now these terrorists emerged as a political group IPFT, said Dhar.

Bijan Dhar added, ‘IPFT is not actually a political party at all, this group is a kind of communal group, fueled by opposition parties, especially BJP’.

‘More than 2 decades, those tribal militants and sympathizers lived in forest and now they again initiating terrorism, blackmailing to disturb communal harmony among Tribals, Bengalees, so they are brainwashing young tribals for the namesake demand of separate state ‘Twipra Land’.

In last Village Committee election, IPFT’s poor result was enough proof for that how much people need them actually, Dhar added. ‘They just want damage the unity between Tribal and Bengalis’, said Dhar.

Mentioning about the status of Twipra land, Bijan Dhar said, “There are so many tribal states in North East, and their sufferings has no end”.

“A separate state will give them only misery”, said Dhar. “However, the main point is that a separate land is never possible and imaginary’, he added.

TIWN further asked CPI-M State secretary Bijan Dhar if CPI-M Govt is aware of continuous Terrorist threats emerging in Tripura (?), he said, "Few days back a group of refugees have damaged locals’ homes at Kanchanpur and similar groups are trying to enlarge terrorism inside state”. “However, such incidents are condemned by CPI-M”, said Dhar.

“IPFT is trying to create similar pictures of communal riots as 1980’s”, said Dhar.

He further said, ‘Tripura’s NH-44 is in pathetic condition and already Assam and Tripura is majorly suffering from Transport problems. In this situation 24 hour’s strike shows what their intension’. ‘They just trying to create problems, to halt development and commanl riots’, he added.

‘They are trying to create a communal polarization kind of situation in state, and that’s why they are calling for tribal/ non-tribal issues in state once again’, Dhar said.

CPI-M State Secretary further said,  “Developed, educated society should not entertain and appreciate such divisive, communal politics”.
