AGARTALA, June 22 (TIWN): With the progress in the work, now the drilling has also began at Mahadev temple a pillar would be erected from the temple.

The ongoing trend of the flyover construction for the first time in Tripura seems to be completed before the deadline as the fixing of the iron guarder for the pillar has began.

It is to be mentioned here that heavy branches of the banayan tree is chopped which has ritual values in the mind of the people.

Maintaining the ritual value it was decided that the temple will not be demolished where as the flyover will go over the temple.

Talking to TIWN correspondent, flyover project head Amit Mallik said that fixing of iron guarder and pier cap is underway in full swing, and in the coming days the work will be expanded towards Bordowali and Dropgate area.

Detailing about the work he said that a structure of steel is constructed for the launching of the segments between two Piers. This area of the construction site is most hazardous in respects to height and working conditions and an accident prone one. Top of the Launching Guarder has pressure pumps for the movement of the segments which are hanging from the Launching Guarder only with the help of four rods and bolts, weighing about 60 tons.

All the security gadgets–Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)–are must in this area. No one is allowed to ascend on the Launching Guarder without PPE. The segment is transported to the Launching Guarder on a Trailer. The segment is hooked to the crane which carries it to the segment to the rods to which it is bolted and thus attached to the Launching Guarder. After the launching of the segments one by one the same are lined according to the numbering.  Once the segments are properly placed the work of cabling starts, he added.

Maintaining the quality of the construction material is the top most priority of the company, effort is made to provide quality work, he added.

He further said that a total of 68 pillars would be set up in the entire stretch of the pillar from Dropgate to firebrigade chowmuhani where work for the 28 pillars is underway so far.
