KAMALPUR, June 20 (TIWN): Way back in 2012, the Dhalai District Hospital was set at Kulai. Then it became a much debated issue as the oldest sub-division of the district Kamalpur received another setback in the name of so-called development.

However, the District Hospital got inaugurated at Kulai and the Chief Minister woven a utopian dream of health service. But in reality, the patients got many pains and pathos in the District Hospital in last four years as the Hospital still lacks many basic facilities. The non-functioning of x-ray units or irregularities of the pathological unit turned a very common issue.

And the patients now complete their requirements by doing the necessary tests outside the hospital. But, what becomes more pathetic remains that; the health department fails to provide basic facilities to the patients of the District Hospital. And as a result, the patients have to be shifted to the second floor on their own as the hospital has no wheelchair or stretcher.

It may seem something extravagant but it’s the reality and not an exaggeration. In the district hospital at Kulai, the authority fails to provide any wheel chair or stretcher. Hence the patients who need to be shifted to the second floor have to undergo a dreadful experience. In the hospital, the sensitive and important wards like pre-natal, pregnancy and maternity are at second floor.

The patients who get admitted in those wards need special care and treatment. But, the treatment receives a major jolt at the beginning. The patients who get admitted in those wards, in no condition, can walk the way from the ground floor to the second floor.

Hence, the relatives and family members have to take them on their backs. And again during different tests the patients have to be brought down as the hospital also cannot provide pathological and x-ray facilities on regular basis.

In this context, the patients who generally need a bed rest during the period have to undergo a suffering experience in this golden regime!
