Tripura expecting ‘Gold’ from Rio Olympic 2016 : Tripura Olympic Association organized various programme ahead of Olympic

AGARTALA, June 19 (TIWN): Ahead of Rio Olympic 2016, Tripura Olympic Association is organizing various progrmmes. On Sunday in a blood donation camp Tripura Sports Minister Sahid Chowdhury appreciates the Olympic Association for taking such initiatives for social activities. Along with Blood donation camp an art competition was also organized by the Association.

On April 23rd. Deepa Kamakar, the first woman gymnast of India qualified for participating in Olympic Games, to commence next in Rio-De-Generio, Brazil and her Coach Bisheshwar Nandi were facilitated by Tripura Olympic Association with the hands of MP Jiten Chowdhury.

However, Dipa Karmakar has become the symbol for Olympic aspirants and the sports star of Tripura.

With the coming of Rio Olympic the association is now commencing various programmes and Dipa Karmakar’s name is taken by various dignitaries to motivate the sports stars in state.

It’s worthy to mention here that Tripura’s Golden girl Dipa Karmakar who is presently at Delhi, busy in preparation for Rio Olympic-2016 as she is reportedly to leave for Brazil on May 30.

After qualifying for Rio Olympic, Dipa on May 1 had left for Delhi with the target to prepare fully for Gold medal.

Before departure she told Tripura media that her target will be to get medals in Rio Olympics and that is why she will be in practice for 2 months at Delhi.

Reportedly, she is now concentrated in serious practice at SAI (Sports Authority of India) coaching centre in Delhi.

The 22-year-old Dipa already thanked the Sports Ministry and expressed gratitude towards the Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI).

It’s notable that Dipa Karmakar being a citizen of NE state Tripura, has come out as the first Indian woman Gymnast contesting at Rio Olympic.

A Tripura girl created history in gymnastic world in her young age in 2016.Apart from being the first Indian woman, she will also be an Indian gymnast qualifying for the quadrennial extravaganza after 52 long years.

Dipa during her Rio qualification round secured 13.366 and 12.566 points in beam and floor exercises.
