AGARTALA, June 16 (TIWN): AMC Mayor Prafullajit Sinha on Thursday placed a budget amounting to a deficit of Rs 58 lakhs at city centre for the financial year 2016-17.
It is to be mentioned here that the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) previous year proposed a Budget of Rs. 348.00 crore with a bearable deficit of Rs. 56 lakh for the year 2015-16 at city centre, however, this year the deficit stands at 58 lakhs.
However, in the budget an amount of Rs355crore was reported as expenditure for the year 2016-17. Whereas profit of 354crore 42 lakh was revealed in the budget placed for the financial year 2016-17.
Agartala Municipal Corporation or is municipal body which governs and maintains the city of Agartala, the capital of the Indian state of Tripura and is the second-largest city in North-east India. Formed in the year 1871 the oldest municipal body in Northeast India, AMC had a vital role in developing & modernizing the state and managing in its various activities. This civic administrative body administers an area of 76.5 km2. AMC is headed by Dr. Prafulla Jit Sinha the present Mayor of Agartala.
