AGARTALA, June 14 (TIWN): A District level table set up earthquake scenario demonstrated by V.K.Dutta, consulted of NDMA at civil secretariat on Tuesday.

The meeting held with all District level officials and they discussed about the steps to be taken in future as for ‘Earth-quake safety’ in state.

However, as Tripura is under one of the major Earthquake zones, so NDRF team is visiting in state to aware the Govt. and people here, along with Disaster management dept. and other govt. depts.

Vision of NDRF is to emerge as the most visible and vibrant multi-disciplinary, multi-skilled, high-tech force capable to deal with all types of natural as well as manmade disasters and to mitigate the effects of disasters.

It’s worthy to mention here that Tripura is on the high risk of massive earthquake as it is situated on seismic zone-­V and has probability of occurrence earthquakes measuring more than 8 magnitudes on Richter scale. 

A recent survey found that the capital city- Agartala is uniquely positioned to render massive physical damage to the residents in any natural calamities like earthquakes above 6.5 magnitudes on the Richter scale occurs.
