AGARTALA / DHARMANAGAR, June 13 (TIWN): Heavy torrential rain has once again stopped the vehicular movement in National Highway-44 and in alternative national highway since June 11. Agartala bound buses stranded for hours in Kathalthali area of alternative highway on June 11 due to slushy condition. Resulting in hundreds of vehicles including passenger buses stranded in both sides of highway due to pitiable conditions of the road.

There has been no improvement in the road condition in adjoining southern Assam's Karimganj district which has been washed away in torrential rains around half a month back and the repairing work is very slow. Hundreds of vehicles are still stranded in both sides.

National highway in Assam side is in very bad condition since last monsoon season and we have lot of trouble due to the bad condition of the road.

Over 1000 goods laden trucks and other vehicles with passengers have been stranded for the past few days after the road was damaged. If the condition of the road remains like this which businessman will come to Tripura?

Every day the condition is deterioration posed a big question mark on Tripura's transportation.

NH-44 has literally turned into a paddy field as the black top has been washed away in torrential rain and which has totally ceased movement of vehicle entering and moving out of Tripura.

If the damaged road was not renovated on urgent basis, the situation would be further worsened and the crisis of essential commodities would be further aggravated.

Meanwhile there is no sign of intervention from Transport Minister Manik Dey or Chief Minister Manik Sarkar to end this massive imbroglio affecting Tripura's lifeline NH-44.

CPI-M Govt's slumber continues as NH-44 continues to turn further muddy fields in this 'golden era'.
