Burnt body of a girl recovered: police suspect’s rape and murder, accused dragged to police station for interrogation, Jirania PS OC talks to TIWN
TIWN June 11, 2016

AGARTALA, June 11 (TIWN): In a bizarre incident a body of a girl was recovered in a burnt condition from the house of accused Amrit lal Das on Saturday morning where the girl was working as a domestic helper.

Reportedly, the girl was working as a domestic helper in that house over past few months and according to the allegations raised by neighbours of the accused said that he always had wrong intention towards that girl.

It is to be mentioned here that getting alarm about the incident on Saturday morning the Jirania police OC Shabbir Ahmed rushed to the spot and started investigation.

Talking to TIWN correspondent Jirania Police station OC Shabbir Ahmed said that after getting information they rushed to the spot and recovered the body of one girl in a burnt condition from the house of Amrit lal das. Later after investigation it is suspected that the house owner Amrit Lal Das has raped her and then murdered her in his house to escape from the incident.

However, police has nabbed the accused and the further action will be taken after the interrogation.

Day after day the crime is rising high and TCW is least bothered to take any action against the accused criminals.

It is to be mentioned here that when the Women's organizations believe that low conviction rate, lack of prompt action by police and victims shying from lodging complaints resulted in rise in such crimes.  When the women are not getting a proper justice and the police are always in a race to either hush up the lodged case or to save the accused persons, what is TCW doing for the justice of women in the state.

Reports of crimes against women in Tripura such as rape, dowry deaths, abduction and molestation have increased.

Apart from all other crimes imposed on the women, today the women are becoming the victim of domestic violence at large.  Domestic violence against women is an age old phenomenon. Women were always considered weak, vulnerable and in a position to be exploited. Violence has long been accepted as something that happens to women. Cultural mores, religious practices, economic and political conditions may set the precedence for initiating and perpetuating domestic violence, but ultimately committing an act of violence is a choice that the individual makes out of a range of options.

In-laws torturing bride, bride-burning, rape, molestation, violence against children has become an everyday issue in the city, but TCW is not taking any strict action against the accused. They are not much bothered to solve any case and providing justice to the victim.
