KAMALPUR, June 9 (TIWN): Might it be treated as double standard or the example of protecting self- interest-remained a bewildering question to the commoners. And the power-enjoying Chairperson remained in his happy ground occupying some parts of the road which remained to be a government property by extending his house.
The party of clean and transparent administration also lost all its policies and principles in the matter of rectifying the show of power. And at the same time hundreds of businessmen were evicted who made temporary sheds by the roadside on the allegation of encroaching government property. The ridiculous and self-opposing scenario prevailed in the case of Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat and its Chairperson who remained a teacher in his professional life.
The Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat with its new board under the Chairmanship of Subrata Bhattacharjee conducted eviction drive against small businessmen who constructed temporary sheds in front of their premises. And in this drive hundreds of businessmen had to shift from their old positions to new one or to close their business. But what remained contradictory was in the case of the Chairperson himself. His ancestral house in which he lived with his brothers occupied a fair portion of the government property.
The extended part of the house was built on the drain of the road. None the CPI-M party or the Chairman himself showed the courage to make the encroached portion free. And it remained so as the step would lead to the demolishing a part of his house.
What remained a must for commoners turned completely unnecessary for the Chairperson? And probably it remained to be the saga of leftist power!
