AGARTALA, June 7 (TIWN): Huge numbers of supporters on Tuesday came down in the streets to welcome the six MLA’s which have recently joined TMC after quitting congress.

As a part of welcoming the leaders the party has organised a rally which has catered a huge number of crowd.  In yet more bad news for the Congress from the North East, six of its lawmakers in Tripura have resigned and joined the Trinamool Congress, which will now be the main opposition party in the Left-ruled state.

This brings the Congress' tally in the 60-member Tripura assembly, 10 till yesterday morning, to three. One lawmakers Jitendra Sarkar, had resigned on Monday and is set to join the CPM.

The Congress rebels say they have resigned over the party's decision to partner with the Left in the West Bengal elections that saw Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Conference defeat the alliance comprehensively.

The main objective in joining the Trinamool is to defeat this corrupt, anti-people government of the Left," said Barman.

It can be said that change is Tripura is obvious after BJP has entered in the NE eastern states along with TMC making its grounds in Tripura.

The much talked CPI-M and congress alliance has now drowned both the parties making a way for the BJP and Trinamool to make their grounds in the left ruled state.

To fight against Mamata in west Bengal, the CPI (M), in an effort to form a secular and democratic alliance against the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Apart this alliance was a question to the society as there can’t be alliance where there is no similarity. Both CPI-M and congress has different ideology and strategy.

The All India Trinamool Congress is an Indian regional political party based in West Bengal. Founded on 1 January 1998 as a breakaway faction of the Indian National Congress, the party is led by its founder and current Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee. Prior to the 2014 general election it was the sixth largest party in the Lok Sabha with 19 seats; following that election, it is currently the fourth largest party in the Lok Sabha with 34 seats.
