AGARTALA, June 7 (TIWN): Taking the advantage of the crippled condition of Congress party in the state, the big heads of CPI-M is playing the role of opportunist by intending towards calling Former congress MLA Jiten Sarkar in the CPI-M party.
According to the sources, Former MLA of congress Jiten Sarkar who has resigned from the party on Monday morning is likely to join CPI-M party.
Reportedly, Assembly speaker was called in the state from Dharmanagar in helicopter on an emergency notice for accepting the resignation letter of Jiten Sarkar.
However, Assembly Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath said that Sarkar has submitted his resignation to him and he had accepted it.
The development came amid reported efforts by the Trinamool Congress to split the Congress legislators' group.
Talking to TIWN correspondent, CPI-M state secretary Bijan Dhar said that it would be his sole decision if he joins CPI-M as he was earlier in the party. He also said that sarkar would maintain the morality of the politics if he rejoins CPI-M party.
A former veteran leader of the CPI-M and a former speaker of the Tripura assembly, Sarkar joined the Congress with his supporters in March 2010.
The 71-year-old Sarkar was elected to the assembly five times since 1978 from Teliamura constituency in west Tripura. But he was denied re-nomination by the CPI-M in 2008.
Congress MLA Jiten Sarkar from Barjala Constituency who has demanded security from police for the safety of his life has resigned from congress party and also handed over his resignation letter to the assembly speaker on Monday at Tripura assembly.
It is to be mentioned here that former Congress MLA Jiten Sarkar from Barjala Constituency is against joining Trinamool congress and is likely to join CPI-M.
It is to be mentioned here that MLA Jiten was provided with separate security around his official residential quarters.
Although he has left congress but is dead against joining Trinamool Congress in the state.
It is to be mentioned here that Sarkar has tactfully come out from the web of Sudip and company’s pressure for joining TMC. Although Sudip and his gang is trying to built up TMC in the state but its failing in the beginning stage itself.
However, with such political chaos in the state, it seems Tripura will stand without any opposition party in the state as Congress is already crippled and TMC is failing to make its grip strong as Jiten is walking back to CPI-M.
