CHURAIBARI, June 6 (TIWN): 3 miscreants were arrested on Monday for attacking police personnel who were on duty during a mid-night road-blockade held by a truck driver on NH-44 Churaibari.

3 arrested miscreants are  Nirmal Deb, Jhantu Pal, Billah Mia.

Police of Churaibari Police Station had lodged an FIR against the 3 accused via the case number : 06/2016/05-06-16 under section IPC – 353 / 332 /109 / 34.

Incident occurred on Sunday evening to mignight for 8 hours when a violent clash erupted among truck drivers and police.

Truck driver named Nirmal Deb who was coming from Guwahati via Churaibari National Highway was unwilling to show his vehicle documents to police, followed by rogue Nirmal Deb blocked highway by parking his truck in the middle of the road, which broght vehicle movement standstill on busy NH-44.

After 8 hours when police went to control the situation, the driver alongwith his group of miscreants attacked police resulting injuries of 13 TSR personnel and 3 drivers.

SP Manik Lal Das, SDM Pradip Acharjee, DSPO-Rajdeep Deb,Churaibari O/C-Jayanta Karmakar rushed to the spot and controlled the unruly situation.

Following the incident, Churaibari Police registered a case and arrested 3 of them, amongst whom Driver  Nirmal Deb has been identified as the main culprit .

However Police suppressed the fact that , CPI-M backedTripura Motor Sramik Union leader Nikhil Kar and his supporters caused the situation into further chaos.

Churaibari check-post is the hub of Tripura & Assam's most corrupt officials and bribe seekers,so its no surprise that truckers will revolt time to time.

It is still a mystery how come a mob of unruly Truck drivers can beat armed Police and TSR jawans ?
