AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): With the early monsoon the construction work is slightly hampered as it becomes risky to work.

Talking to TIWN correspondent, Flyover construction project head said that due to the rains the work is progressing slow but once the rain stops the wok will begin in full swing.

Although the eviction is done along the road from Nagerjala to Bordowali area but the construction work can’t make any progress until and unless the electric poles are removed from its place as the high extension cables hanging in the road is creating problems in the process of construction.

Flyover project head Amit Mallik also said that all the AMC along with their task force have conducted the eviction drive but nothing can be done until and unless the electric poles are removed from its place.

He further said that the high extension cable in the electric poles are creating problem in progressing with the flyover work.

Given the stringent deadlines, we are thinking as to how to minimise inconvenience to people. Suspension of power supply during the day (to facilitate the project work) will affect about consumers or population in the town. This is where we need people’s cooperation,” flyover project head said.

It may be mentioned here, works of flyover construction between Bordowali to fireservice roads were started about six months back. But no alternative arrangements like creating service lanes were made for smooth traffic regulation at these points. Besides, poor coordination between government departments also left the commuters in lurch travelling on this road. Delay in removal of the electric transformer was causing hurdle in regulating traffic on this road and also hampering the flyover project work progress.

Delay in the flyover construction includes reasons like non-diversion of traffic and encroachment was held responsible for it. The district administration have asked the departments concerned to remove all these hurdles in order to clear the way for the construction of service lanes that was the only solution to keep the traffic regulated.

Messy roads, huge number of vehicles, irregular parking has led to massive traffic jam in the city giving tough time to common people.

Considering the construction of fly-over work which undergoing in unorganised manner from Battala to Dropgate area, and further coupled with limited road infrastructure and paucity of parking space, has been playing havoc with the traffic management in the city.
