TIWN June 6, 2016

AGARTALA, June 6 (TIWN): After passage of almost 3 years, for the first time with the initiative of BJP government Highway roads commissioner PC Bora along with others visited the NH 44 road between Lowerpoa to Churaebari (upto Tripura entrance) section to take a note of the status of the road which has turned miserable for movement of vehicles over past 3 years.

Finally, with the initiative of BJP government, for the first time Highway roads commissioner PC Bora along with others visited the NH 44 road between Lowerpoa to Churaebari to inspect the status of the roads.

He was accompanied by Chief Engineer SM Baki, Cheif Executive N.Deka, MLA Krishnendu Pal from Patharkandi, MLA Kripa Nath from Ratabari and others.

Visiting the roads on Sunday evening at 3PM Highway roads commissioner PC Bora expressed displeasure over the poor condition of the road and said that it is due to poor structure of the construction work of the road which has lead to such deplorable condition of NH44.  He also said new Construction Company is engaged for the renovation of the roads and the work will begin soon.  It was due to the negligence of the previous construction company which has turned NH44 a death prone zone.

Speaking to media he said that only NH44 is left is poor condition where as the NH53 is running smoothly.

MLA Krishnendu Pal from Patharkandi also said that now it can be expected that the condition of the road will develop as the BJP government has taken the initiative.

Seeing such progress a common man Sujit also expressed hope for improvement in the condition of the road which is left in miserable condition over past many years. Let’s see what development does BJP government brings, added Sujit.

It is to be mentioned here that NH44 is in poor condition for past three consecutive weeks and this landslide has added much more problem.  The NH has literally turned into a paddy field as the black top has been washed away in torrential rain and which has totally ceased movement of vehicle entering and moving out of Tripura.

National highway 44 is one such road which gets worsened even for small rains. The condition of the road deteriorated due to heavy rains. As it is the only highway which connects Tripura with the rest of the country, the transport completely blocked.

Thousands of vehicles stranded at Assam’s Lowerpoah area as the Assam-Agartala national highway virtually turned into paddy field due to heavy monsoon since April.
