KAMALPUR, May 18 (TIWN): More than four months passed. Three people died. Still the leaders and departmental authorities not found time to remedy the problem.
As a result hundreds of local people blocked the National Highway in front of Dhalai Zilla Parishad office here today. When a women leader of CPI-M went to end the blockade, the comoners summarily rejected her.
According to the complaint of the local people, the bridge on the way to Ambassa colony collapsed almost four months ago. Till then the locale had to ply over the bridge virtually taking their hearts in their hands. Three people already died as they fell from the bridge. But the Council and the PWD department only produced assurances. Hence they organized the blockade. Due to the blockade vehicled stranded on the both sides.
Then Ambassa Municipal Council Chairman Chandan Bhowmik reached the spot with the PWD officials. After getting the assurance of early remedy the blockade ended.
