KAMALPUR, May 12 (TIWN): 20 days passed after the promise of Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat Chairperson. But he failed to spend half an hour on a single day in the public library. The promise done during the observation of the Biswa Pustak Divas remained only for namesake.
On 23 April last, the Biswa Pustak Divas was observed at Bimal Sinha Memorial Public Library. The day was observed with discussions and recitations of self-composed poems and stories by the party close writers. The leaders also discussed on the occasion and put emphasis on making up the habit of reading among the students and youngsters.
Inaugurator MLA Anjan Das also put emphasis on the need of the elders’ becoming more sensitive towards making up of the practise of reading strong.
In this context, while delivering his speech Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Subrata Bhattacharjee went a giant stride further. He assured that he would spend at least half an hour everyday in the public library to motivate others. The program was concluded with the great air of hopefulness.
But the reality remained the same dark and gloomy. Almost 20 days passed after the Chairperson made the promise in public. But in those days he was never found in the public library for reading.
The commoners expressed the view that, the Chairperson who was hoped to be wise and cultured and was assumed to be a keen worker to spread subtle cultural thoughts, actually got mingled in the current political trend.
Hence, he got used to make comments and like other political leaders never tried to implement them. What if, the young generation got lost in the dreary paths of so-called modernity and turned into uncontrolled and aimless citizens of the country!
