AGARTALA, April 30 (TIWN): 5 minor girls' rapes, including 3 Gang-rapes in last 15 days hits Tripura.

State has recorded with atleast 5 minor rape cases in the last 2 weeks. The incidents have created huge amount of resentment of the people here.

Although hundred of workshops, seminar are held in the state in the name of women safety, child-care but the message of the workshops never reache to the rapists ear, due to the unstable law and order and loopholes in the investigation process by Tripura Police.

If 5 rapes are reported in 15 days it shows that in  official record 10 minor rapes per month held in Tripura and in a year (10X12)=120 minors are raped in state.

Tripura’s child care and Women Commission officers traveling in VIP cars with red lights are silent after so many brutal rapes. But still Tripura is considered as a "peaceful state" as per the ruling party’s claim.

1.Reportedly, on 16 April a girl who as reading in class 10 was raped brutally by 5 persons near Airport area’s tea garden. Chetan Bonoj and Mohonta Tati along with 3 other persons who  raped her when she went to bring cattle from the field. But none of them are arrested, said police source. However, as the victim is unable to recognize rest of the 3 persons, police also has no urgency to find out them.

2.Then on April 20  a minor girl was gang raped at Ganesh chowdhury area under Lembuchaarra.

3.On that same day, another 15 year’s tribal girl was raped at Amarpur,Gomati Dist. and the victim was the D/O-Dulumay Swaran Kumar Jamatia at Amarpur.

4.On April 25 police has arrested one Praneswar Debbarma in allegation of raping another minor girl. The incident occurred at Tulamura area, under Udaipur.

5. According to last reports a minor girl, resident of Laxicharra Village having been raped by a youth at Lankajoy area under Bokafa RD Block. According to Source, the two CPI Minister Manindra Reang & Dhirendra Reang try to suppress the case, although FIR still lodged with NO.30/16 363/376 IPC.

However, talking to few of the police officials they mentioned that ‘investigation is going on’!. None of the police official was interested enough to talk in details about the case, which shows the softness of Tripura Police towards rapists.

Although number of women police stations are increasing but they have been remained without any affect to the crimes.
