AGARTALA, April 23 (TIWN): Tripura’s law & order nosedived to such extent that even few blackmailers, extortionists under the garb of journalist tag can dare to outrage the modesty of one IFS officer’s wife’s hand in broad daylight, then dare to manhandle her in front of her 4 yr old daughter, hurling abusive languages. On April 19, at around 9.30am, DFO Harshkumar’s wife Ms. Neha went to Holy Spirit School to drop her 4 year’s daughter for morning classes as DFO went out for Govt work for the day. DFO’s wife Neha spotted a silver color Hyundai Car (bearing number plate TR 03F 0447) following DFO’s wife’s Govt vehicle. Upon getting down at school gate, Ms. Neha was surrounded by 3 persons from Hyundai car namely Pritwish Datta, Samir Debnath, Rakesh Debnath, all of them started abusing DFO’s wife in filthy languages, started taking pictures, as DFO’s wife with 4 yrs old kid was running inside school, then Pritwish grabbed Ms. Neha’s hand, other two grabbed her bag and told her in obscene language demanding immediate money or she and her DFO husband will face living hell in Belonia. Later it was found that Silver Hyundai Car TR 03F 0447 belongs to Prithwish Datta.

DFO Harshakumar, an upright IFS officer spoke to TIWN on Friday evening about assault on him, outraging his wife’s  modesty, expressed lack of security in the face of organized attack by sand mining, timber smuggling gangs based in Belonia.

DFO’s wife not conversant in Bengali, new to Tripura, so she depends on DFO’s staff at residence for help with nearby works as needed.

After DFO’s wife Ms. Neha got scared for life as these miscreants were trying to outrage her modesty and endangering life of a 4 yr old child, so she ran inside but trio stopped her, started pulling her with filthy languages. When Ms. Neha asked why they are continuously harassing her ? Instead of replying her, they manhandled her, outraged her modesty and insulted her with threats.

DFO Harshkumar told TIWN that these extortionists are functioning under the mask of journalism but their ‘inhuman and barbaric’ attack of an IFS officer’s wife shows that these are actually deputed to harass his family by the organized lobby of timber smugglers, sand mining mafias whose illegal businesses got a direct hit when he took over as the DFO of the District.

Along the corridors of South Tripura Forest Dept and District Administration, DFO Harshkumar is known as upright, honest officer serving Tripura since his service career began in State.

DFO Harshkumar rushed to Belonia after getting his wife’s panic call. Later Harshumar joined his wife Neha at SP Office Belonia, where she was narrating the ghastly incident occurred with her to the Dy SP.

But in the meanwhile Harshkumar got another call from the Second O/C  Belonia PS Nandan Baidya who asked him to reach his office as few media persons were waiting to meet him, so DFO left SP office and reached his own office.

However, upon returning back to DFO’s own office at around 12 pm he found that over a dozen media persons alongwith the policemen were sitting and immediately media persons led by Pritwish Datta threatened Harshumar for illegal using of Govt. vehicle for dropping kid to school.

DFO Harshumar replied if they had such questions they could always ask him in his office or over phone, but why did they have to attack a woman and a 4 years old child?

DFO Harshkumar said that, he is following Govt guidelines, depositing fuel price for private use and using this vehicle for emergency purpose, which is legal and permitted by Govt.

However, these attackers had a different mindset as they were representing sand and timer mafias, so situation got out of control when DFO asked the identity cards of the journalists.

Instead of co-operation, Prithwish Datta led miscreants used very filthy language (in Bengali) and kicked the DFO office chair and hit office tables.

Talking to TIWN correspondent,  IFS officer Harshkumar said, “The language which they used is so flthy that its not possible for me to tell you”.

In this whole situation Police was acting in silent role as no Police persons stopped these miscreants from attacking a DFO in his office chamber.

“The second OC Nandan Baidya was highly biased to the miscreants and it was a kind of highly unexpected behavior from Tripura police that nobody helped a victim on that spot”, said Harshkumar.

Now question arises, who gave the OC Nandan Baidya  the permission to enter DFO office chamber with 12 miscreants without DFO’s permission ? O/C Nandan Baidya entering DFO office in duty hours, then OC was entertaining miscreants, media persons and disturbing another officer’s office?   Isn’t it illegal?

He wanted to note their name of the journalists but the Police OC Nandan Baidya misguided and distracted him.

However, the miscreant who caught DFO wife’s hand demanded her to give minimum Rs 50,000/- has been identified as Prittish Datta.. who led the gang in silver color Hyundai vehicle TR 03F 0447.

At the end, DFO Harshkumar told  TIWN that it’s a bitter and shameful experience that an IFS officer came to serve Tripura with honesty and dedication, but local goons are attacking wife and child and then most of the Tripura medias are painting a wrong picture of him supporting the miscreants.

TIWN investigative team now working in Belonia to gather more datas about the sand mafias, timber smugglers  who staged the ghastly attack on DFO and his family by using these miscreants.

DFO lodged a FIR in Belonia Police Station on 19^th April.

In counter FIR filed by miscreants (surprisingly its accepted by biased Police), it is mentioned that DFO’s wife destroyed their 2 cameras, each worth Rs 50,000/- then attacked them.  Now even in worst imagination no one can believe that a lonely hapless lady with a 4 yr old daughter is capable of attacking 3 miscreants and destroying their cameras ???

Surprisingly no broken cameras were deposited with Police or displayed in media to substantiate the false claims miscreants made in FIR.

Also it raises the important question that how come these ordinary so called journalists in Belonia can afford to buy multiple cars, bikes, real estates and Rs 50,000/- high priced cameras with their paltry income of Rs 3000 per month from Agartala based medias ?

Other than smuggling or mafia connections, no way these journo-extortionists can lead such an opulent  lifestyle  with multiple cars and gadgets ?

In addition to this ghastly incident, in last 2 days Tripura witnessed how  shamelessly many senior journalists lined up to support Belonia miscreants.

DFO also informed to TIWN that till date, not even a single media or a single journalist or Journalist Union called  DFO Harshakumar (Official Mobile 9612913045, landline 222067, Email dfosouth15@gmail.com ) to know DFO’s side of story but blindly painted the actual victim DFO in bad light, then glorified the miscreants in good light as ‘journalist victims’.
