AGARTALA, April 10 (TIWN): Pantwi Sporting Society on Sunday celebrated the 10 years of Foundation Day at Swami Vivekananda Maidan.

The programme was organized with the sponsorship of The Manikya Court, Oxygen Diagnostic Centre and Tribal Research and Cultural Institute.

Education (Sports and Youth Affairs) Minister Sahid Choudhury inaugurated the programme in the presence of others.

It is to be mentioned here that Tripura is currently exhibiting some positive traits towards development in sports and sports infrastructure being built at the State Capital.

However, physical education has been introduced as one of the compulsory subjects from standard one to ten.

Besides, many a time sports items are being distributed among the schools of the state.

It is to be mentioned here that Dasharath Dev State Sports complex and MBB Lake stadium are among the milestone in the path of sports development in the State.

The sports complex also houses a sport school was established in the year 1999 in the month of August.

Besides, MBB Lake Stadium came in to being in the year 1995 with the gala IX North-Eastern Sports festival held in Agartala. Since then, it has been leased out to the Board of Control for Cricket in India for 20-years.

However, the stadium has received Rs. 2 crore from the apex cricket board for its development.
