AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): In major break down, MLA cum working president of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee Ashish kumar Saha and President of Tripura Pradesh Youth congress Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday announced about their resignation from their posts. Addressing a Press Conference at Press Club, Ashish Kumar Saha declared his decision of resigning from the post as working president of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee. In his resignation letter addressed to President of the Indian National Congress Party Sonia Gandhi, Saha said “I am perturbed and completely bewildered by the fact that our party has compromised its values and past glorious history by forging an alliance with the opportunist left front in West Bengal”. “This decision has hurt the sentiments of our party’s rank and file leaders and workers”, stated Saha. He further continues saying, “Our support base is in no mood to hear us of the logic that we will fight out the CPI-M in Tripura”. Besides, he also mentioned that innumerable precious lives of Congressmen were taken away by the cadres of the CPI-M party.

Their cadres have been rapped, outraged the modesty of women for their allegiance towards Congress party.

Regretting over the alliance issue, Saha further mentioned “All Democratic institutions have tumbled down under immense political pressure”.

On similar note, expressing shock over the decision of the Congress high Command to enter into electoral understanding with the Left front in West Bengal, Sushanta Chowdhury said “The decision of alliance with the Left Front Party has come as bolt from the blue to the innumerable number of antileft people in Tripura who have been reeling under the misrule of CPI-M and have subjected to immense torture and oppression during the Left regime of 23-year long”

He further states, “The decision has also raised question as how can an age old party like Congress with its edifice past can change its stand or policy against CPI-M in three different states like West Bengal, Kerela and Tripura”.

“It is indeed a step mother attitude shown towards the uncountable number of Congressmen in Tripura struggling with the ideology of Congress courageously against the left front since long”, added.

He further stated that despite being a tiny State in the North eastern Region, the people of Tripura have given more than 40 percent of vote share to Congress party, almost in all the Assembly elections which are nowhere found in India amply signifying the high regards and affection of the people of the State bears for Congress in their minds proven to be a mere fantasy now.

However, protesting against the claimed unethical and opportunist alliance in West Bengal both the party members on Friday resigned from their post.
