KAMALPUR, April 8 (TIWN): In a sensational happening, a three-year’ long Basanti Puja at Noagaon road organized by the local women received a major jolt regarding the un-social attitude of a local Executive Engineer of PWD (WR), here at Kamalpur.

The executive Engineer namely Kalyan Debnath lodged a complaint against the women organized Puja to the police that, the women used to create nuisance in the area in intoxicated condition throughout whole night.

Further, he also complaint that, the uses of microphones till late night and mass-distribution of eatables on the Mahanabami Day by blocking the bye-pass road disturbed the peace and tranquility of the area. He and his wife Lakshmi Debnath also lodged a separate complaint to stop the Puja there.

As a result, the organizing committee met the OC and the SDPO separately today. They informed their course of observation for last two years and police also admitted it as a peaceful observation.

Then the committee with Secretary Smt. Gita Guharoy, President Smt. Bina Deb and Treasurer Smt. Sebika Das along with others met the media persons at Kamalpur Press Club. They expressed their anguish over the un-social attitude of the Executive Engineer and expressed their determination to conduct the Puja.

It might be mentioned here that, the Puja attained much enthusiasm and praise in last two years. Specially, the cultural programs of the children added to the fervor of the Puja. And the organizers used to conclude the program around 10 pm every night. This year they planned to distribute clothes among some poor and needy. However, that Executive Engineer always remained to be the stern protagonist of this Puja and never made up a cordial relationship with his neighbors.
