KAMALPUR, April 8 (TIWN): The police of the Salema police station got shamelessly busy in unholy nexus with the liquor-sellers and the tie up became an open secret here at Salema under Kamalpur sub-division.
The local people went in rampant to allege the police with the unholy nexus with the sellers. On every Thursday, the foreign liquor shops of the sub-division remained closed and the day got treated as dry day in the official records.
As the shops remained closed hence the government also not got any revenue. But, in reality, almost all the foreign liquor shops used to sell liquors with the help of their agents in a higher rate. And the matter remained under cover. But at Salema, the situation turned upside down due to some mysterious reasons.
The owner of the liquor shop resided at the market area. And every Thursday, he used to sell liquors from his house by himself. The police of the Salema police station also got busy in their patrolling duty in the market.
But, according to the complaint of the locale, mysteriously, police could not notice the hurly-burly in front of the house of the shop owner and used to pass the spot quietly. Even when the officials of the police station situated at a part of the market area, got informed then they never found to take any steps.
As a result, a large number of the youths and students of the Salema area found busy in consuming liquor in the darkness of night spoiling their future. The efforts of the guardians seemed fruitless as police failed or remained unwilling to put any restraint over the practise.
