Massive thunderstorm-lightning left two critically injured, undergoing treatment at GB hospital

AGARTALA, March 28 (TIWN): In a bizarre incident, two middle aged man on Monday were left critically injured due to the thunderstorm at Kamalghat.

The injured are identified as Dilip Telegana and Bhajan Sarkar, resident of Kamalghat area and are presently undergoing treatment at GB hospital.

The two persons were left injured due to massive storm and lightning, while accompanying rains brought down mercury in most parts reeling under heat wave.
The capital witnessed pleasant day as the temperature dropped to a certain level followed by the massive thunderstorm in isolated parts of the state.

Light rains also lashed several parts of the state leading to a drop in day temperature on Monday.

The storm hit at around afternoon and according to reports a large number of electricity poles and hundreds of trees were uprooted in the interior parts of the state.

Heavy rainfall across Agartala city and suburban area has hit the normal life in the city on Monday morning. After a dry spell of over a month, the monsoon finally made its presence felt in the city, as heavy rain disrupted the road and transport services.

Incessant rain, since morning, has thrown life out of gear in parts of Agartala, disrupting road traffic and causing damage to paddy crop in some suburb areas.

Though delayed by couple of days, the heavy rain has finally provided sigh of relief to the people from the extended summer in Agartala.

Traffic came to a halt or crawled on some sections of Motorstand road as water has simply disrupted the regular movement of the traffic on the roads.

Due to heavy shower, life in the adjacent part of the city has also come to a halt. Water has entered in various residential areas of Agartala city.  Flood like situation has occurred on the roads.

The continuous spells of rain exposed the so called state government’s tall claims of cleaned drainage system for the smooth flow of water. The sewerage system of the city was choked and the water was accumulated at various places due to blockage of small drains passing through the city.
