AGARTALA / NEW DELHI / DHAKA, March 23 (TIWN): India and Bangladesh Prime Ministers alongwith Tripura Chief Minister via video conference inaugurated two historical projects on wednesday. Historic inauguration is a culmination of strong bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh in recent times due to dynamic leadership of Narendra Modi. OTPC Palatana’s 100 MW power export via transmission lines between Surjamaninagar in India(Tripura) and South Comilla in Bangladesh, as well as for announcing the historical India’s 3rd Internet gateway inauguration, optical fiber connection between Cox Bazaar (Bangladesh) and Agartala. India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj during her speech said, “This is a historical moment for India as we are initiating two important bilateral projects, which was decided earlier and today is the day when finally India having its 3rd Internet Gateway in Agartala”. “NE region and Bangladesh economy will progress after today’s historical inauguration”, said Sushma Swaraj during the video conference from Delhi. Foreign Minister also added that , “On the one hand as we are giving power to Bangladesh, in return Tripura, NE region is getting back 10 Gbps, India’s 3rd Internet gateway ”. Abul Hassan Mahmud Ali, Bangladesh Foreign Minister said that this inauguration represents the successful partnership between the both countries. Tripura CM Manik Sarkar during his speech said that, “This is a joy for all of us and it’s a glorious day for people of Bangladesh and India”.

"The event is for launching of 2 important projects between these 2 countries and I’m sure that it will find a place in Indo-Bangla History and this day will be written in red letters", says CM.

He added, “I believe,  this give and take policy will bring prosper and development here, and strengthen friendship and brotherhood between the countries”. 

“This attitude of both the countries I appreciate and wish for the long live of the friendship between India and Bangladesh”, says Sarkar.

Hasina said during her speech, “We are thankful to India for our freedom and today also we are thankful”.

Indian PM Narendra Modi said, "This is really a rare occassion gifted by modern technology, where 2 prime ministers and a state's CM are sitting together and globally connected via technology". "For me it's a matter of more joy as I do believe in Act East policy", he added.
