UDAIPUR, March 22 (TIWN) : Pollution in the water bodies across Udaipur is turning the whole subdivision into an unhealthy place resulting out in various kinds of water born diseases.

Once the Udaipur City was known for its unique beauty covering by many lakes in the town area. But presently, Udaipur is under the grip of dirty waters due to the negligence of the authority of Gomati Dist.

One of the most popular lakes which is known as Jagannath lake, is suffering from its continuous pollution caused by daily human activities at there.

Although on the West side of the lake there are SP office, Fire-brigade and also the Women Police Station, but no one is concerned about the daily pollution at Jagannath lake.

Once it was decided that the polluted water of Jagannath Lake would be discharged into river Gomati. Minister Ratan Bhowmik brought the project of water replacing from Jagannath lake to the river Gomati in 2013, and accordingly, under the invigilance of PWD Executive Engineer Shishir Chiran, the work had kicked off.

Reportedly, before 6 months, the work has already completed and all are set to discharge the water of Jagannath lake.

But unfortunately, Minister Ratan Bhowmik didn’t permit to discharge the water with the claims that it may create a sudden crisis of water in that locality. Now question arises:

1.     If the water has become unworthy to use for public, how the water will create crisis in that locality?

2.     PWD has supplied sufficient number of water pipe lines on the each sides of the lake area, so why the authority is not stopping the people of that area from using the polluted, poisonous water of the lake?

3.     If the water once replaced, then will the people would stop to pollute the water body again?

4.     Why the govt. is delaying to discharge the water, whereas causing traffic jams and other problems during the whole year 2015, PWD had set the work to be  done?

The work started in the year 2013. Ratan Bhowmik (Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation) brought out the plan to discharge the full water-body into river Gomati,.The quality of water of the Jagannath Lake continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate. The implementation of the plan has also discontinued the students who use to come to learn swimming. This situation is leading to various kinds of water borne diseases like malaria and others, the people may also strike with viruses.
