AGARTALA, March 21 (TIWN): Keeping eye on upcoming celebration of World TB Day-2016, Media milieu cum a workshop has been organized on Monday at Agartala Press Club.
It is to be mentioned here that for the successful implementation of the World TB day programme scheduled to be held on March 24, a media workshop has been organized.
T5he programme has been organized with the joint initiatives of the National Health Mission and Health and Family Welfare Department.
World Tuberculosis day is a worldwide event that aims to raise public awareness on tuberculosis and the effort made to prevent and treat this disease.
Along with the world, the State also observes the World TB Day on March 24. This year the event will be observed with the message ‘Unite to End TB’.
Reportedly, on the occasion of World TB Day on March 24 a mass rally will be organized where which will include workers of ASHA and NGO along with the officials from TB Association hall to IGM.
The initiatives will be taken to promote the preventive and curative aspects of TB in the society along with promoting the patients who are suffering TB symptomatic aspects.
This event is held on March 24 each year and is promoted by organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO).
Tuberculosis is an infectious bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which most commonly affects the lungs.
It is transmitted from person to person via droplets from the throat and lungs of people with the disease. WHO estimates that the largest number of new TB cases in 2005 occurred in south-east Asia, which accounted for 34 percent of incident cases globally. However, the estimated incidence rate in sub-Saharan Africa is nearly twice that of south-east Asia.
It is to be mentioned here that World Tuberculosis Day, annually held on March 24, marks the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch detected the cause of tuberculosis, the TB bacillus.
