AGARTALA, March 21 (TIWN): On the one hand where the common mass of the state is hit with the rising price of sugar by Rs 6, state government is reluctant to take any step for the curtailment of sugar price.

Despite of several protest launched by the emerging party of the state BJP, state government is reluctant to take any action into it.

It is to be mentioned here that the ruling government has hike the price of sugar by Rs 6 posing another threat for the common people.

The price hike of sugar has affected the daily lives of common people in Tripura. BJP has placed deputation to the food director to take action against the price hike and to bring a relief from the sugar price. BJP also organized a huge protest rally here in the several sub-division of the state.

According to the reports, the state Government had increased the price of sugar from the ration by Rs. 6 in every kilograms, (which was informed on March 8) and it was said that the hiked price will be implemented from April 1.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit in Tripura organised a protest in state capital Agatala against the state government’s recent decision of hiking price by Rs. 6 for kilogram of sugar distributed through public distribution system (PDS).

Protestors raised slogans against the Left Front government demanding immediate rollback of the sugar price.

They viewed that the state government is anti-poor and the hike in sugar price is totally unjustified since there has been no increase in sugar price in the market.

All of a sudden the state government has hiked the price of sugar by six rupees (per kilogram) which is an extra burden on the people of the state.

It is alleged that ruling party  have hiked the price in order to divert the money to party fund keeping in view the 2018 assembly election. They (CPIM) are scared as the BJP is gradually growing and so they want to keep the people in hunger and create such a situation that the poor section of people lives half fed and claim themselves as government of the poor people.

Where B JP is raising voice against the price hike, the so-called opposition party of the state Congress is silent over the issue.

The Congress appeared to be losing grip of its role as opposition from Tripura where BJP is making inroads even as the Left firmed its hold in Tripura.

While the Congress tally came down in the election, the BJP candidates emerged as giant killers defeating the main opposition party state and bagging the second position into their account. Being the opposition party of the state, Congress is hardly seen in the field raising voice for the betterment of the common people.
