AGARTALA, March 20 (TIWN): Where the people of the landlocked state were waiting for the commencement of BG passenger train by the end of this month, the people received a jolt with the information about the sudden collapse of the rail shed at Badarghat railway station on Sunday morning. The incident came as a shock to the people as the newly constructed rail shed collapsed suddenly leaving at least four labourers critically injured in the spot. The police alleged that centre pillar was not erected properly, cause the collapse. No case has been registered in this connection. However, 4 labourers are reported with injuries among them 3 are shifted to private hospital for better treatment. The work, which began a couple of months ago, was expected to be completed in a few days so that the people could assess the benefit of railway service but before the state could begin with the service this incident came as a shock to the people of the state. It is alleged Low quality construction material is being used to build the shed which has led to this deadly incident. However, local police and railway authority are further investigating the case.

Primary Investigation alleged that poor quality construction materials and building code violations were among the "series of irregularities" that caused the collapse of the railway shed leading to the deadly incident.

It is to be mentioned here that NFR authority is willing to start train service by the end of beginning of next month but if the status of the work is such deteriorating hardly it will be possible to begin the service.

Although it was claimed by Tripura State Govt. that Railway service will begin from March 31, 2016, but observing the allegations of use of poor quality of products for the construction of the railway station question arises whether the work will be completed in successive time period or not. The localites alleged that the extremely poor quality of iron rods and cement and sand are used in the construction and there was a series of irregularities in the construction.

It is to be mentioned here that Railroad crews are still finishing work on the tracks, installing new switches and making other final adjustments before the trains start to roll. With an aim to meet the deadline and to complete the construction work on time, workers are continuing with the work in a full-fledged manner but question arises how much safety measures are adopted.

However, now everything depends on the CRS inspection which will be done soon and running passenger train depends on the reports of CRS inspection.
