AGARTALA, March 19 (TIWN): With the initiatives of the Indian Medical Association of Tripura State branch, 46th All Tripura Medical Conference Trimacon-2016 organised on Saturday at Radindra Satabarshiki Bhawan.

During the programme, a total of twelve doctors were felicitated. They are Dr. P. K Bhattacharjee, Dr. Nirod Das, Dr. B. K Saha, Dr. Paritosh Ganguli, Dr. Gautam Roy Choudhury, Dr. Swapan Deb Gupta, Dr. Sukumar Debnath, Dr. Madhu Sudan Majumder, Dr. Animesh Gosh, Dr. Jiban Chakraborty, Dr. S. M Das and Dr. Hitangshu Bhattacharjee.

Besides, list of awardees of TRIMACON- 2016 are Dr. Kushanka Debbarma Memorial Free paper Presentation Award 2016 are Dr. Arkadip Choudhury, Dr. Subarna Bhattacharjee, Dr. Anamika Das and Dr. Harsh H. Lathiya. IMA Award Dr, Sekhar Datta, Best Poster Presentation is Dr. Anamika Nath.

It is to be mentioned here that Indian Medical Association is a national voluntary organization of Doctors of Modern Scientific System of Medicine. It looks after the interest of doctors as well as the well being of the community at large.

The founding fathers way back in 1928, while struggling for liberation of the Motherland from British rule simultaneously felt the need of a national organisation of the medical profession.

Indian Medical Association in the year 1946 helped in organisation of the World body, namely, World Medical Association, and thus became its founder member.

The main objectives of the association are to promote and advance medical and allied sciences in all their different branches and to promote the improvement of public health and medical education in India.

Besides, to maintain the honour and dignity and to uphold the interest of the medical profession and to promote co-operation amongst the members.

During the programme, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the programme in the presence of Health Minister Badal Choudhury, Cheif Executive Member of TTAADC Radha Charan Debbarma.
