AGARTALA, March 18 (TIWN): Much awaited dream for the renovation of the National Highway from Churaibari to Lowerpoa is underway in full swing. Talking to TIWN correspondent, Executive Engineer of PWD of NH44 Division, Karimganj said by the month of March it is expected that almost 80 percent of the renovation work will get completed. Speaking about the details, he further mentioned that renovation work at the portion of Churaibari to Lowerpoa is going on in full wave which was highly affected. Besides, mentioning about construction of the roads from Assam Meghalaya border to Badarpur, he said that the renovation work has also begun from the month of March.It is to be mentioned here that earlier the vehicle movement on the National Highway from Churaibari to Lowerpoa nearly crawled due to the pathetic condition of the road.The pathetic condition of the road has been causing frequent disruption on the movement of the vehicles. Most of the time, pedestrians were getting injured due to the pot holes and the stone presents over there.The vehicular movement nearly stopped through this route. But as it is the life line of the State, lorry carrying goods had to take this route and had to face several problems on the way to Tripura.

On the other hand, the suspension of the Tripura railway has left no option for the commuters other than to take the national Highway to enter in to the Tripura’s boundary.

Alarmingly high rates of tragic accidents that claim lives and injuries of the commuters have become daily matter.

In fact, the deplorable condition of these national highways has led to resentment amongst local people, with the demand for their maintenance growing and intensifying.

Demanding to start renovation work at the National Highway the drivers also went for road blockade.

However, after huge doldrums regarding the poor condition of the National Highway especially from Lowerpoa to Churaibari, the Assam government has finally taken the initiative to look into the matter.

With the completion of the work, the commuter using the by-road facility will get relief from the deplorable condition of the road.

However, it is expected that with the completion of the renovation work the commuters are going to get relief from the prolonged chaos due to the deplorable condition of the road.
