Power theft on rise: No initiatives yet

AGARTALA, March 18 (TIWN): Despite of several initiatives to curb down the frequent electricity theft cases in the State, miscreants yet continue to theft power through hook line.

It is to be mentioned here that power theft is one of the main reasons for damage to infrastructure, a fact which can be acknowledged by the TSECL, but no action is being taken to prevent it.

On the other hand, frequent load-shedding returned to haunt the people of Tripura with over two-hour power cut in every morning and evening for past few months. The load-shedding in Tripura has made life miserable as Tripura’s own power generation is down to its half of total capacity for past few months.

According to the official report of the Power Department, during the financial year 2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2014-15 altogether 37, 012 electricity theft incidents has been caught.

The state people where facing prolonged load shedding; miscreants all across are stealing power through hook lines.

This problem is getting severe day by day creating problem for the common mass. On the other hand, several families in the interior parts are deprive of the electricity connection for prolonged many years.

Areas like ADC and Jumpui Jala are massively hit with the power theft case.

It is to be mentioned here that due to the frequent fault in the production units of the state loss of huge power due to hook-line users, the TSECL has allegedly increased time of the load shedding.

However, due to continuous fault in the power generation the people are facing massive problem.
