AGARTALA, March 17 (TIWN): State Government whereas all set to provide 100 MW power to Bangladesh, on the other hand, common mass of Tripura are yet facing trouble dues to frequent load shedding. It is to be mentioned here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to unfurl the 100 MW power supply to Bangladesh through remote from Tripura’s Palatana project to Bangladesh on March 23. Where the State is busy in preparing for the inaugural programme of the 100 MW supply of power to Bangladesh, Several families in the interior parts of the State are yet spending their lives with kerosene lamps. Besides, families residing in the city are facing frequent load shedding. India has already inked an agreement to supply 100 MW of electricity to Bangladesh from the gas-based Palatana power plant from Tripura. Reportedly, The 100 MW power will be dispatched to Bangladesh from Suryamaninagar power sub-station at the outskirts of Agartala and for transmission of 100 MW power, the works on transmission lines is completed on 400 KV double circuit transmission lines.

According to the reports, about 143 towers are set up for 47 kilometers long transmission lines up to South Comilla of Bangladesh.

However, around Rs. 250 crores is utilized to complete the transmission lines. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had raised the issue during her visit to Tripura in January 2012 and pressed for power sale from Palatana to her country.

The total expense for construction of transmission lines and towers is of Rs 250 crore, of which Rs 83 crore is for construction in Tripura.

However, State is where busy with the preparation of the inauguration programme, even today several families are spending without electricity connection in their home.
