AGARTALA, March 15 (TIWN): State Government on Tuesday announced additional five percent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees. The much awaited DA has been finally released after a long meeting of the state cabinet held at the civil secretariat on Tuesday. It is to be mentioned here that despite of 5 % increase in DA, the State Government employees and pensioners are at loss, as the difference between the Central and State Government employees exists by 40 %. The cabinet on Tuesday decided to make the additional Dearness Allowance effective from January 2016. State government employees and pensioners had long been demanding to the State Government for increase in their DA so that it could be equal to that of central government employees. However, though after a long wait the DA has been finally increased by 5 % , yet 40% gap still remains between the Central Government employee and the State Government employee. However, when inflation has hit the state’s market, the five percent increase in the DA seems nothing.
Sources mentioned that the more increase in DA was expected but only five percent increase in DA has been announced.Though the increase has failed to bring smile in the face of the State Government employees as the announcement is far away to meet their expectation.
