AGARTALA, March 13 (TIWN): Keeping eyes on West Bengal assembly election, a politics of compulsion has pushed CPI-M and the Congress more closer in Tripura too. The growing clamour for a pre-poll alliance between the Congress and the CPI-M is left in unsolved stage in Tripura. The much talked CPI-M and congress alliance somewhat remains mysterious after CPI-M had pushed the ball in the court of Congress. It is to be mentioned here that CPI-M had given an indirect signal to the Congress on the alliance issue throwing the ball in the court of congress. To fight against Mamata in west Bengal, the CPI (M), in an effort to form a secular and democratic alliance against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP, made it clear that it would consider if an offer comes from the Congress which reveals that they will not approach to the parties for alliance thereby pushing the ball in the court of Congress.Apart this alliance is a question to the society as there can’t be alliance where there is no similarity. Both CPI-M and congress has different ideology and strategy.

With the clamour for forging an alliance with Congress growing louder, majority of CPI (M) state committee members have spoken in favour of either an alliance or an electoral pact with Congress by stating "extraordinary situation demands historic decisions".

Both CPI (M) and Congress are ideologically opposite to each other and alliance with each will do no work well for the party politics.

A close meeting was also held between General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and state CPI (M) leaders like Biman Bose and Surjya Kanta Mishra, said television reports. The Bengal CPI (M) leadership is likely to take a call.
The clarion call for the alliance came from former chief minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee on 16 January at Singur. Flagging off a march from Singur to Salboni, Bhattacharjee issued an open appeal to the Congress to join hands with the Left Front to defeat Mamata Banerjee's TMC in the Assembly election due a few months later.

With the West Bengal Assembly polls coming up in a few months, the state leadership of CPI(M) and Congress have been advocating an alliance to take on the ruling TMC.

CPM Central committee concluded the three days emergency meeting on Thursday to address the whole situation of the tie up issue at Delhi. The leaders of several states discussed the matter over the resolution and recommendation sent by state committees.
