AGARTALA, March 13 (TIWN): The ongoing trend of the flyover construction for the first time in Tripura seems to be completed before the deadlines as the construction of the pier for the first pillar begin at Battala.

Talking to TIWN correspondent on Friday, flyover project head said that the construction of the first pier is already completed and the work is underway in a smooth pace.

Speaking about the construction of the first pier he said that, Pier is applied to a mass of reinforced concrete or masonry supporting a large structure as such in the over bridge. When piers are built on ground of poor bearing value, it is often necessary to drive piles to obtain a firm base. These piers are generally built on pile foundations. In architecture the term applies to the clustered Gothic pillar, to a wall between openings, and to a detached masonry mass serving as a gate post.

He further said that a total of 68 pillars would be set up in the entire stretch of the pillar from Dropgate to firebrigade chowmuhani where work for the 28 pillars is underway so far.

He also said that the construction of the first pier in the 39th number pillar is completed and within next 8 days the pier would be constructed on the 40th number pillar.

When asked about the flow in the construction of flyover, he reiterated the same problem regarding the encroachment of footpaths at Bordowali and underground water pipe channels. As the government has not yet made clear the underground set up of the underground water channels the construction agency is facing problem to carry out the work smoothly.

Speaking about the status of the work he said that the work is carried out 24 hours in a day without any break and around 300 labourers are engaged in the work. However, they are guided by about 50 to 52 efficient engineers.

Maintaining the quality of the construction material is the top most priority of the company, effort is made to provide quality work, he added.

With the aim to complete the construction work in the given deadline, flyover work is carried out in full swing

It is to be mentioned here that the Project head has assured that the work will be completed before the given deadline.

Iron frame structure for pillars is already set up with the help of steel and iron bars and cement concrete. With the ongoing days, it is seen that the work progress is gaining momentum and will be completed in the given duration.
