AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): On yet another daring robbery, one ATM machine of State Bank of India (SBI) was ransacked by unidentified miscreants at Sevak Sangha and MB Tilla area. However, no arrest has been in connection to the incident, police said. According to the police the incident took place on Friday mid-night right near AD Nagar Police Station. Some unidentified looters managed to ransack the ATM machine. However, the ATM belongs to the SBI and AXIS bank, said police.Asked about development of the case, police said the AD Nagar police team is currently conducting a raid in and around the area to trace out the ATM machine. The security of Agartala city has once again come under serious threat as the State Bank of India's ATM counter installed at Sevak Sangha area and AXIS bank ATM under AD Nagar police station, has been ransacked by some unidentified robbers on Friday late night. Even after hours of this incident police is in complete darkness about the said incident. It is suspected that taking the advantage of darkness the robbers might have entered the ATM in order to steal money. But finding no clue they ransacked the ATM machine and broken the front part of the locker with spade and other heavy iron instruments.

It is however, not confirmed whether the robbers succeeded to steal the money or not. But from the methods of operation it is evident that the robbers were aware of the fact that they could be caught in the CCTV installed in the ATM booth. As such they completely damaged the CCTV camera.

Police said that the miscreants broke the machine in a failed bid to extract money from the ATM. The incident occurred on Friday night whereas the locals on Saturday witnessing the incident informed the police.

The police later rushed to the spot and filed a diary; but failed to detain anyone in regard of the case. The police informed that the miscreants talking the advantage of the absent of security guard at the ATM, managed to smash the machine but failed to loot cash.

The miscreants left the machine damage. The front screen of the machine was found smashed and left it damage completely. Interestingly after such an attempt of looting cash from the ATM machines, the machine itself had gained a momentum here at the capital city.

No arrest has been made yet and polices’ investigation is on, the police said. It is worthy to mention here that so far the city police and the concerned bank authorities had failed to bring the emerging situation under control and as a result the bank and the ATM customers are getting deprived at large.

The bank authorities had also failed to ensure security to most of the ATM machines in and around the city and other parts of the state and taking this advantage, the miscreants seems to have owned a new policy to loot the ATM machines.
