AGARTALA, March 12 (TIWN): Sports Authority of India to take the responsibility of Tripura’s Golden Girl Dipa Karmakar for the upcoming Rio Olympic test.
Reportedly, Sports Authority of India to take the responsibility of the first Indian woman to have qualified for the finals of the World Gymnastics Championships Dipa Karmakar for the test trial of the Rio Olympic-2016.
Tripura’s Golden Girl Dipa Karmakar who has secured the fifth position and became the first Indian woman to have qualified for the finals of the World Gymnastics Championships is set to go for trial test for the Rio Olympic.
It is to be mentioned here that Summer Olympics-2016 which is officially known as the Games of the XXXI Olympiad is commonly known as Rio Olympic 2016.
Rio Olympic 2016 is a major international multi-sports event that is going to take place in Rio de Janeiro of Brazil.
It is expected that the Rio Olympic 2016 is expected to commence on August 5 and expected to continue till August 21.
According to the reports, from 206 National Olympic Committees more than 10, 500 athletes are going to participate at the Rio Olympics.
With 306 sets of medals, the games will feature 28 Olympic sports including rugby sevens and golf, which were added by the International Olympic Committee in 2009.
It is to be mentioned here that Dipa Karmakar, daughter of weightlifting coach with the Sports Authority of India joined the Gymnastics club in her home town at the age of 5.
Young Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar made history on October 25 becoming the first ever Indian to qualify for the finals of World Gymnastics Championships.
However, the Tripura’s Golden girl won bronze medal in the common wealth game of 2014, becoming the first Indian woman Gymnast to do so. Last year in the month of August, she also won bronze medal at the Hiroshima Asian Championships.
